Located in the heart of the wheat-producing agricultural area and only an hour's drive from Paris, the little Chartre is famous for its beautiful Gothic cathedral. The building dates back to 1134 and has an impressive crypt, the largest 3 in Europe. Its historical significance, degree of conservation and its more than 2 thousand and 500 m2 of stained glass, which illustrate the Bible and draw attention to its shade of blue, have secured their place in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Chartre also houses the International Stained Glass Center, dedicated to restoration techniques and glass work by contemporary artists. In the evenings from May to September, she gets a fairy tale air, thanks to an event that transforms historical buildings every year with a game of music and multicolored lights. Bathed by the river Eure, the town is cut by medieval lanes and cozy restaurants. In them it is possible to taste the pâté de Chartre, a pasta clad with layers of stuffing inside and fillets of partridges that alternate.96 Km de Paris
