To the north of Paris, the small Compiègne is a quiet town with beautiful residences that houses an important piece of French architectural heritage, the Compiègne Castle. The construction of 1751 in neoclassical style is surrounded by a park and a forest of 14 thousand hectares, old hunting area reserved to the nobles who have frequented the property throughout the centuries. After Louis XV and Napoleon I, Tsar Nicholas II of Russia was the last to make it his residence.

The forest of Compiègne was the scene of important historical events. In it was signed the armistice between France and Germany in 1918 and again in 1940. The municipality is now a university center, thanks to its competent technology center. Nearby, it is possible to take advantage of the green areas to practice outdoor activities such as canopy tours, golf or even accompany the competitions in the city racetrack. The generous cuisine of the Picardy region can be enjoyed in the local restaurants. The Ficelle Picarde, thin crepe stuffed with ham and mushrooms, gratin with cream, is a good example of it.
