The castle of Fontainebleau was the preferred residence of the monarchs and the only one inhabited continuously for seven centuries by all the French kings and emperors. Capétiens, Valois, Bourbons, Bonaparte or Orléans, each of these dynasties occupied this place full of history.

For example, Napoleon Bonaparte had his favorite residence in this castle and he said goodbye to his personal guard before leaving for exile on Elba Island. Even the castle houses a large collection of objects by the great French strategist in the museum that bears his name. The castle is a beautiful record of the French architecture of the 18th century. Xll to XlX and its main entrance has the famous l'escalier en Fer-à-Cheval (staircase in horseshoe format), due to the practice highly appreciated by the nobility, hunting in the region. Returning to Paris we passed by the friendly village of Barbizon, famous after the nineteenth century by its painters such as Millet, Rousseaue Stevenson and others.
